Finishing jobs  (2011) by Mary

Sometimes, important or more interesting jobs, pull us away before we've finished details on the one we are doing, but there is something about completing a project that is so freeing to the spirit. One of those was the entrance to each of our 20x30 beds. Unwiring and rewiring up and down the so called "gate" each time we entered was time consuming and annoying. Larry and Josh tackled the job, and stapled the wire to a 2x2 board on all the beds. This keeps the wire, especially the lower chicken wire, in tact, plus the board can easily be hooked. The exciting thing about those 2x2 boards is they were reclaimed from the roosts in the old chicken house. We love salvaging and reusing. True recycling.

It is also difficult to pry ourselves away from a job we like doing, or find fascinating to learn about, to something that needs to be done. I'm often saying to Larry, "Let's not get too busy doing new things and neglect to take care of what we have already put hard work and money into.

One evening, while the cousins were playing games, and Nancy was preparing supper, Larry and I attended to one of those jobs, and freed the English walnut trees. The"twigs" we planted in the spring of 2010 had already become crowded in their temporary enclosures. We found the necessary fencing in our "Lowes" building, Larry did the work, and I helped with the pruning and kept him company. Again, getting caught up on such things, is liberating.

Quote: "My therapist told me the way to achieve true inner peace is to finish what I start. So far today, I have finished 2 bags of M&M's and a chocolate cake. I feel better already."  Dave Barry

"Let me out of here!"

Just pruned.

  "Ahhh!"
